The name iceberg lettuce comes from America. This has to do with transporting the lettuce by train from the West to the East, where covering the lettuce with ice was crucial for the product's shelf life. Iceberg lettuce can be grown in the field or in a greenhouse. The vegetable is very versatile and is therefore also popular among consumers.
